Fourthguides Weekend Autumn 2019 - Talks and Workshops

Kylie Stedman

Sidestepping your personal quicksand

Making sense of our contemporary world is not a simple matter of choosing a pill and waking up. We’re swimming in deception, breathing it - taught by our cultures to adhere to rules and processes and stories which were originally intended as short-cuts to success and wisdom, but which are now dangerously misaligned with not only our natural world, but with the survival requirements of our own species. Complex creatures that we are, we continuously deceive ourselves, too. How can we navigate our way to a regenerative society when our extrinsic feedback systems are corrupted and our intrinsic sense-making systems distorted? In this session, Kylie will facilitate an interactive exploration into using psychological models as tools to illuminate and work with our personal blind spots.

Kylie is a neo-generalist with a passion for truth and meaning, an abiding love of psychology, systems theory, philosophy and ecology, and more than 20 years experience in facilitating change in the business, government and not-for-profit sectors. She offers personal and organisational change consulting and coaching, and is also engaged by a couple of passion projects: Praxorium, an open online community platform for working on wicked social problems, and developing a funding proposal for an opt-in global stewardship system ("Global Commons Trust").
